Lyric Pages

These pages would be replicated with the lyrics from all the songs appearing on the album to create a booklet in the Digipak with all the album's lyrics. This is something we found to appear in nearly every CD we looked at. We used the doodle as the background as we want to make this constant across the Digipak. We used the same font that we've used in all of the different mediums we've created. It's a very close font to Ed Sheerans personally used 'Moms typewriter'. We used quite a low key colour scheme and have tried to stick to a 3-colour scheme as this is something that is used on magazines, posters etc.

This is an updated version of our 'thank you' page for our Digipak. We changed it from our previous one as we wanted a common background throughout the Digipak that was eye catching and interesting rather than just have solid colour backgrounds. We've also started the colour scheme of the light bluey/green colour as we think this would be quite a typical colour of Ed Sheeran and we wanted to deviate away from the orange colour that he typically uses so not to copy him. We have also used the font that is very similar to Ed's own font and will be a font we use throughout in the video, the whole of the Digipak and the magazine poster.

This is a remake of some doodles that Claudia did. We scan in the originals and then created collages like the one above. All of the doodles we decided on by looking at Ed Sheeran's songs and taking out little symbols that represent parts of the song, the explanation of these is below..

- Wings; from the A Team lyric 'it's too cold outside for angels to fly'

- Cup of hot drink; from the Cold Coffee song, quite obviously symbolising the coffee

- The sofa; this is from Ed's song called sofa 

- The snowflake; this is a less obvious symbol and is from 'Give Me Love' and the lyric 'maybe you're lovable, maybe you're my snowflake'

- The paw print and plus sign; these were simply taken from Ed's existing ideas as he often uses these symbols himself

- Cat; this is from Ed's video for Drunk as he has a pet cat which features a large part in the video.

- Lego piece; this symbol is taken from the song Lego House

I decided to put this effect on it as I thought it was quite fitting with Ed Sheeran and the colour that it gave the page looked nice.

These two are two possible choices to put on the left inside page of the digipak.

STORYBOARD

This is the storyboard that me and Claudia came up with which depicts the ideas for our video and their order. We came up with the ideas by first having the bigger concept of the video - A boy and girl breaking up because of UNI. We then got the lyrics and started fitting some things around them.

My partner and I have been doing some work on our digipak. We've been brainstorming ideas and creating some first drafts. You can see our draft front and back cover a couple of posts down. We have also been deciding what to put in the middle of our pak by looking at existing examples. We came to the conclusion that we would have a thank you page from Ed Sheeran which you can see the first draft of below. Then a photo of an Ed Sheeran crowd behind the disk. The other two pages will contain a doodle back ground and then the page on the right will have a book of lyrics which will have the song lyrics inside.

Digi-Pak ideas

We created this cover using a picture we found on google but we have changed the image dramatically with editing. This is the kind of cover we want to go for and our final version will probably be an alteration of this.

This is an example of what the back cover would look like, we include things like the barcode, QR code and 'small print' at the bottom as this is what we would need to put if this was going to be a published Album.

PREPARATION

in preparation for mine and Claudias film we decided to have a play around with lip syncing, obviously this isn't an extremely serious video but we just did it for practice and fun and to see how it'd turn out..

Schedule for October!

October

6th - take recce photos

11th/12th - brainstorm ancillary task and begin to design
16th - Sort out photos for the wall, print and cut all of these
18th/19th - continue with ancillary tasks, write tracklisting and get all lyrics sorted.
25th - Organise all filming, set up 'To Do list for the day'

30th - Do all filming/photos for ancillary

Actors | Costumes | Props | Locations

Actors
We will need a boy and girl to play then main two characters. We will also need the girls family, primarily her Mum and Dad. We will also be using extras at the train station for the crowd that the girl gets lost in.
The main girl will be played by my partner Claudia and the girls family will be played by her parents.
The main boy will hopefully be played by our friend Ash though this needs to be confirmed with him as we need to make sure he has enough free time.
Costumes
As our video is set in the normal time we won't need any specific costumes to signify the time genre etc.. We will need a two change of clothes for each of the main actors though as there's two flashbacks and the present time, the change of clothes in this circumstance will help to tell that the clips are flashbacks. The clothes will be the actors own and will be common of this time era.

Locations

We will need quite a few locations as we will be switching between places, the locations we are going to use are;

• A Boy's bedroom
• A Girl's bedroom
• Kettering train station
• Car
• Isham street
• Isham field

All of these things were decided when we created our storyboard as they were things we had to consider when planning out the shots.

Examples of digipaks

These are some examples of digipaks for quite recent artists like our own. Common conventions of digipaks are photos of the artist or variations of the cover art, track listing, lyrics, comments from the artist and sometimes DVD's or links to websites with more information.

Story Board

For the past couple of days myself and my partner Claudia have been discussing and designing a story board. Though story board is a loose term as neither of us really prefer to use this method so instead we printed the lyrics to the song and annotated all the sections and what we planned to do with them. We have also noted the types of camera shots that will accompany them.
